Freelance Layout Designer for InDesign Reports and Publications
We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative InDesign Layout Designer who will work remotely on a project-to-project basis. The ideal candidate will have expert-level knowledge of Adobe InDesign and a keen eye for typography, layout and visual hierarchy. You will be responsible for transforming raw data, text and imagery into polished, professional reports/publications, adhering strictly to brand guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Report Layout and Design: Design and layout high-quality, long-form reports/publications using Adobe InDesign.
- Typography and Composition: Apply advanced typography principles to ensure readability, balance and aesthetic appeal.
- Brand Consistency: Ensure all documents align with brand guidelines, including colour palettes, font usage and layout styles.
- Data Visualization: Transform complex data into easy-to-read charts, graphs and infographics within the report layout.
- Production Preparation: Prepare final print-ready files with correct bleeds, margins and resolution, as well as optimized interactive PDFs for digital distribution.
- Quality check: Conduct quality checks to ensure all layouts, formatting, typography and visual elements are accurate, consistent, print-ready and aligned with brand and publication guidelines.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-6 years of experience in layout design, specifically reports and publications. Please do not apply if you have lesser number of years of experience as you will not be considered for shortlisting.
- Mastery of Adobe InDesign, specifically for multi-page document layout.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Exceptional attention to detail in proofreading, typography and image alignment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in creating interactive PDFs (clickable links, interactive forms).
- Knowledge of MS Office (Word/PowerPoint) to InDesign workflows.
- Basic understanding of data visualization principles.
